OUR STORY
Heritage Fire Equipment is proud to provide quality to the fire service. Our team of professionals are available to assist with all of your fire apparatus and equipment needs.
The Heritage Fire team began some 40 years ago when Daniel J. Sutphen began selling apparatus for his father Robert Sutphen, third generation family member of the oldest continuously owned and operated American fire apparatus manufacturer, Sutphen Corporation. Dan took the model of his father and many who came before him, hitting the road in a demonstrator or the family car, to visit fire stations showing the quality Sutphen product. Dan has had a successful career developing many lifelong relationships with his customers, many in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area.
Like his family before him Harry Sutphen, started in the family business early. Harry could be seen sweeping floors in the shop during his early teen years and as he entered high school, he spent time learning how to build, service, and demo the Sutphen fire truck. Many of the men and women who showed Harry "the way it's done" at Sutphen, are still on the shop floor today. When Harry moved on to college he continued to spend his summers traveling the country assisting dealers with the demonstrations of aerial platforms. Harry began his sales career (H. Sutphen Fire Equipment) before graduating college, with his first apparatus sale in 2002. His sales territory began in Southeastern Ohio and has grown in size to where Heritage sells today.
During Harry's time at college, he met Jason Frankle who soon found himself assisting Harry with a variety of tasks that lead to a position at Sutphen Corporation as a Sales Engineer after his graduation. After spending 3 years on the inside sales team helping to strengthen the Sutphen dealer network, Jason was excited when he was offered the opportunity for his own territory in the State of Indiana (Tradition Fire Equipment).
In late 2016 Dan, Harry, and Jason decided that with the two companies finding themselves working together more frequently and their desire to offer more services and products to their customers, it was time to combine their efforts and Heritage Fire Equipment was born.
Heritage Fire Equipment now operates from a 27,500 square foot facility in Columbus, Ohio and includes 4 full time mobile service vehicles. In addition to quality fire apparatus, Heritage Fire Equipment provides the same quality in firefighting tools, many of which are in stock and ready to go to work. Heritage Fire Equipment employs a team of professionals who are committed to building quality lifelong relationships with our customers.
